BARNHUNT
Wheatens usually have strong prey drive. If you would like to see if your dog has what it takes to deal with vermin try a Barnhunt Instinct Test. No rats are harmed in this sport, they are in strong, PVC protective containers and are trained for what is basically a scentwork activity. Visit canuckdogs.com to see the info on upcoming trials. Clubs can be found in BC where members get together to practice. Dogs need to register once with the Barnhunt Association and are given a competition number.
SCENTWORK
Scentwork is fun and a solo activity (nice to know in case your dog is reactive). Visit canuckdogs.com to see the info on upcoming trials. You can also take classes and /or hire an instructor. The internet is also a good resource.
